Offices and Boards involved in the City’s Development Process

The Planning Board is a group of volunteers that is responsible for review and approval of site plans, slope protection, residential uses in non-residentially zoned areas and special permit applications.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is a volunteer group that hears requests for variances, where a project is requesting departure from the terms and provisions of the Zoning Code

The Office of Planning and Community Development supports the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Board in the review of residential and commercial development proposals.  Member of this office are employees of the City.

Take note that none of your elected officials are part of any of these boards that can approve dramatic changes to your neighborhood.

Planning Board

  • Typically meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:45PM

  • As of August 12th, these are remote (virtual) meetings only

  • Pre-registration to attend a meeting is required

  • Official documents for current projects under review by the board can be found HERE

Zoning Board of Appeals

  • Typically meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM (if needed, the board will also meet on the fourth Wednesday)

  • As of August 12th, these are remoe (virtual) meetings only
